Robersonville, NC

Robersonville is a Martin County town in North Carolina’s Inner Banks, incorporated in 1872 and counted at 1,269 residents in 2020. It grew along the railroad route between Tarboro and Williamston, becoming the first town in the county to depend on rail connections instead of the Roanoke River for its trade. Tobacco wealth and later manufacturing left the town a collection of historic houses and large older homes. U.S. 64 Alternate and N.C. 903 now carry the traffic that once belonged to the tracks.

The town’s St. James Place Museum occupies a restored 1910 Primitive Baptist church and holds southern folk-art displays. East Carolina Motor Speedway sits nearby and draws racing fans to the same small town that once drew farm families and merchants to its railroad market. Martin Community College and the county’s wider school system add an educational connection, while Main Street businesses keep the old trading-center pattern legible. Robersonville is a place where railroad history, tobacco-era architecture, folk art, and stock-car racing share one Martin County address.
