Rockford, TN

Rockford is a Blount County city on the Little River, named for the rocky ford that early settlers and merchants used between Knoxville and Maryville. The river rises in the Great Smoky Mountains and passes through town on its way to the Tennessee River. That crossing gives the name and the town's location in one stroke. Rockford is an East Tennessee place built where the river offered one of its more dependable routes across.
