About Rockville

Rockville is Parke County’s seat, laid out in 1824 and built around the courthouse square. The town sits at U.S. 36 and U.S. 41, but its larger claim comes from the 31 covered bridges spread across the county. That’s why Rockville gets called the Covered Bridge Capital of the World and serves as headquarters for the annual Parke County Covered Bridge Festival. The festival began in Rockville before spreading through other county communities. Between the courthouse, the Chautauqua Pavilion, the festival, and the roads leading into bridge country, Rockville is the place where Parke County’s history keeps gathering in one spot.
