About Rockwell City
Rockwell City is Calhoun County’s seat, platted in 1876 and still organized around the courthouse-town role. The local calendar has a distinctly county-fair flavor: Sweet Corn Daze brings a parade and vendors each August, while the Calhoun County Expo serves as the county fair. The Calhoun County Historical Museum has been in town since 1986, giving the place a memory bank beyond the annual events. Rockwell City’s schools now sit in the South Central Calhoun Community School District, after earlier district mergers. The local read is a small Iowa county seat with corn on the festival schedule, exhibits in the old stories, and county business in the middle of town.
