Rocky River is an inviting West Side suburb tucked neatly between Lake Erie and the winding river valley that shares its name. Located about nine miles west of downtown Cleveland, the city gives residents a quick commute along Interstate 90 while maintaining a peaceful, established neighborhood atmosphere. Rocky River holds a special place in local history, as the very first parcel of the renowned Cleveland Metroparks system was preserved here in 1919 along the river gorge. During the 1920s, the city also earned national attention as home to Cowan Pottery Studio, which produced celebrated Art Deco ceramics that were shipped across the country. Today, you can still explore a comprehensive museum dedicated to that artistic heritage right inside the Rocky River Public Library.
