Rollingwood, CA

Rollingwood is a quiet residential neighborhood of about 3,000 residents situated between Richmond and San Pablo in the East Bay. Built during the postwar housing boom, the community consists mostly of single-story, mid-century homes on established residential streets. The neighborhood also has a notable place in local history: in 1952, Navy veteran Wilbur Gary bought a home here, standing his ground against racial covenants and helping integrate the area during a pivotal era for Bay Area housing.

Today, Rollingwood functions as a peaceful, unincorporated enclave within Contra Costa County. Daily life blends easily into the surrounding cities, with neighboring San Pablo and Richmond offering plenty of shopping centers, parks, and dining options. Families are served by the West Contra Costa Unified School District, and Contra Costa College is right down the road. With straightforward access to Interstate 80 and regional transit, it remains a practical and well-connected landing spot for East Bay commuters.
