Rome, also known as Stout, is a village in Green Township, Adams County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The 2020 census counted 83 residents. Rome is also the current residence of Melissa Jones who is the mayor. Rome was laid out in 1835 by William Stout. That mix gives Rome a clear local shape within Ohio, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. U.S. Route 52 passes to the north of Rome.
