About Romulus

Romulus is a Wayne County city southwest of Detroit, best known regionally as the home of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The first white settler, French Canadian Samuel Polyne, arrived in 1826 but soon left, and the community later grew with roads, industry, and transportation. General Motors opened the Romulus Engine plant in 1975, adding a major manufacturing presence. Public education is handled by Romulus Community School District. Romulus feels utilitarian and transportation-driven, with airport hotels, logistics, neighborhoods, and auto industry all close together.
