Rose Bud, AR

Rose Bud is a White County town at the junction of Arkansas Highways 5 and 36, with 494 residents in the 2020 census. Families from western Kentucky settled in the area around 1851, and the community grew as an agricultural and school center before incorporating on June 27, 1969. The town covers about 6.04 square miles of wooded country and cattle land. Its name is tied to local stories about the settlement, while the Rose Bud town spring, cotton gins, churches, and farm roads fill out the older community map.

Education remains central. Rose Bud School District runs from pre-kindergarten through grade 12 and draws students from a rural area reaching beyond the town limits. The town's one National Register structure is a 1938 chicken house, a practical reminder of the agricultural setting. Rose Bud also remembers Nick Bacon, a local Medal of Honor recipient recognized for his actions in Vietnam. With a school district, state-highway junction, wooded acreage, and cattle country around it, Rose Bud remains a small western White County town whose daily life extends well beyond its compact center.
