Rose Hill, NC

Rose Hill is a Duplin County town in southeastern North Carolina, served by U.S. 117, Interstate 40, and CSX Transportation. The 2020 census counted 1,371 residents. I-40 Exit 380 is about a mile away, while U.S. 117 runs through the town center toward Warsaw and Wallace. That road-and-rail map keeps Rose Hill connected to the larger coastal plain, and the town square gives local events a visible civic setting.

Rose Hill was settled in the late 1840s, received a post office in 1872, and was chartered in 1875. The town grew along the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad as a shipping point for naval stores, including turpentine, pitch, rosin, and tar bound for Wilmington. Today, the North Carolina Poultry Jubilee fills the town square each November, with the World's Largest Frying Pan at its center. The festival links Rose Hill's agricultural economy to a present-day civic tradition built around the same small-town crossroads. The square remains Rose Hill's main gathering place.
