Roseland, LA

Roseland is a Tangipahoa Parish town in the Hammond micropolitan area, incorporated under Louisiana's Lawrason Act in 1922. Its 2.27-square-mile footprint includes land and water, and the town's streets sit inside a wider parish landscape of farms, bayous, and northshore roads. The name is tied to the Cherokee Rose, while the town's better-known stories belong to people who made the surrounding Louisiana culture visible: Cajun chef and storyteller Justin Wilson was born here, and Egypta Hall, built in 1888, later became the home of John Bel Edwards.

The present-day town runs on ordinary municipal work. Roseland's council meets monthly, and town departments handle water and sewer, electrical permits, public works, police, and fire and rescue. Tangipahoa Parish schools and Hammond supply the larger education, shopping, and employment network.
