About Roseto
Roseto is a Northampton County borough founded by Italian immigrants from Roseto Valfortore, Italy, who came to work in the local slate quarries. Incorporated in 1912, it became the first all-Italian borough in the United States. Garibaldi Avenue once held shops, bakeries, bars, and sewing businesses, while Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s “Big Time” festival carried an old-country tradition into Pennsylvania. Roseto later drew doctors and sociologists studying its unusually low mid-century heart-disease rate. Roseto is a Lehigh Valley borough where quarry work, Italian memory, and a long-running local festival meet.
