Long before Roswell grew into a vibrant northern suburb of Atlanta, life here centered on the rushing waters of Vickery Creek. In the mid-nineteenth century, water-powered textile mills drove the local economy, built by enslaved workers and later targeted during the Civil War. Today, these significant historical chapters are preserved within the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. You can still wander past weathered stone mill ruins and historic waterfall dams right off the main trails, giving morning jogs and weekend walks a striking connection to Georgia history.

Roswell has grown into a bustling suburban job hub with strong healthcare, technology, and professional service sectors spread across town. At the center of it all is Historic Canton Street. Lined with brick sidewalks, towering trees, and century-old buildings, this walkable downtown strip is packed with chef-driven restaurants, breezy patio bars, coffee shops, and local boutiques. It serves as the social anchor of the city, where friends meet for dinner or grab a drink after work.

From April through October, the third Thursday of every month brings Alive in Roswell, a huge family-friendly street party featuring live music, local food trucks, and pop-up vendors along Canton Street. Throughout the year, annual traditions like the Roswell Roots festival celebrate the area's rich Black history, arts, and culture with performances and exhibits across town.
