Royal Center, IN

Royal Center is a town in Boone Township, Cass County, Indiana, on U.S. 35 between Logansport and Winamac. The place began in 1846 when the Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad laid the Panhandle Route through the area; incorporation followed on June 7, 1880. That railroad origin still gives the town its position on the map: U.S. 35 carries the road traffic, while the old rail alignment accounts for the town's early shape and name.

The larger institution around Royal Center is Pioneer Regional School Corporation. Its elementary and junior-senior high schools are both in town, serving a five-township area that includes Lucerne, Headlee, and Lake Cicott. That gives Royal Center a broader daily reach than its town limits suggest. The town's 2026 calendar includes Pioneer Days on June 19-20, with a parade and vendors, a current event tied to the school-and-town life. Royal Center remains a small Cass County center where the railroad, U.S. 35, schools, and a June festival all meet in one compact place.
