Russell, GA

Russell is a Barrow County census-designated place beside Winder, where the 2020 census counted 1,322 residents. The community was most likely named for Richard Russell Sr., the Georgia Supreme Court chief justice who founded the town in 1902. Russell's municipal charter was repealed in 1995, leaving the place with a CDP boundary next to the larger Winder area.
