Rutherford is a Gibson County town in western Tennessee, with 1,163 residents at the 2020 census. Its strongest local association is Davy Crockett, who owned property nearby and built his first West Tennessee log cabin in 1822. The reconstructed cabin and the grave of his mother sit in downtown Rutherford, so the town's history is not a distant marker; it is part of the center people pass through.
