Rutherford, TN

Rutherford is a quiet West Tennessee community in Gibson County with just over a thousand residents. It is best known as the final home base of folk hero Davy Crockett, who settled in the area in the 1820s. Today, a replica of his log cabin and the resting place of his mother sit right in the center of town, giving the area a distinct frontier character that locals pass by every day.

Every October, the community comes together for Davy Crockett Days, a week-long festival with parades, food, and craft vendors that draws visitors from across the county. Families are served by the Gibson County Special School District, with local children attending school right in town through the eighth grade. Overall, Rutherford offers an easygoing, tight-knit atmosphere where deep historical roots blend naturally into everyday small-town living.
