Sadieville, KY

Sadieville got its start along Eagle Creek in the late 1800s as a bustling stop on the Cincinnati Southern Railroad. Named after Sarah "Sadie" Emison Pack, a local resident who regularly hosted rail workers, the town quickly grew into a major agricultural shipping hub. At its peak around the turn of the century, it was known across the country as a primary market for yearling mules and colts, with busy stockyards right beside the tracks.

Today, Sadieville keeps that peaceful rural charm while offering a quiet pace of life just north of Georgetown. You can still watch trains roll across the historic 1911 bridge over Pike Street, right near a restored red caboose and the original depot downtown. The community celebrates its history through landmarks like the preserved Rosenwald School, while outdoor lovers take advantage of Eagle Creek for kayaking and fishing from the local boat ramp. With scenic country backroads that are popular for cycling, it is a great spot to enjoy the open Kentucky landscape right outside your front door.
