About Salamatof

Salamatof is a census-designated place on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, situated along Cook Inlet between the city of Kenai to the south and the community of Nikiski to the north. The CDP was the site of Wildwood Air Force Station, which operated from 1965 to 1972; the facility is now the Wildwood Correctional Complex. The population was around 1,080 at the 2020 census, reflecting a small but established community in the resource-rich corridor north of Kenai.
