About Salisbury

Salisbury is a Piedmont city and the county seat of Rowan County, about 25 miles northeast of Charlotte. It has been Rowan County's seat since 1753, when the county's reach extended far to the west, and it remains one of North Carolina's older continuously populated colonial towns. The Rowan Museum connects several historic buildings, including the 1854 courthouse and early nineteenth-century houses. Salisbury has Charlotte-area growth pressure, but its downtown and long county-seat history give it a separate identity.
