Salmon Creek, WA

Salmon Creek is organized around county facilities and transportation corridors rather than a municipal center. This unincorporated urban area lies north of Vancouver, and Clark County identifies Highway 99 as a shared business district for Salmon Creek, Hazel Dell, and Felida. Its strongest public landscape follows the creek itself. Salmon Creek Regional Park contains 35 developed acres and 368 acres of undeveloped green space around Klineline Pond. A designated swim beach, splash pad, fishing platforms, picnic shelters, playground, and adjoining softball complex support concentrated recreation, while a three-mile paved trail follows the greenway west toward Northwest 36th Avenue. Wetlands, forested slopes, and bottomlands along that route also provide habitat for migratory birds, deer, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, and beavers. Health care and transit form another cluster near Northeast 134th and 139th streets.

Legacy Salmon Creek Medical Center opened in 2005 and provides hospital, emergency, children's, maternity, neonatal, cancer, stroke, and surgical care for the greater Vancouver area. As of July 2026, C-TRAN Route 19 linked the 99th Street Transit Center with the Vancouver Clinic corridor and the Washington State University Vancouver trailhead. The Current's WSU Vancouver/Salmon Creek zone provided on-demand trips among medical facilities, the university, the Clark County Fairgrounds, new housing, and the transit center. A larger change was under construction: C-TRAN broke ground on the Highway 99 Vine line in 2026, with 32 planned stations and an expansion of Salmon Creek Park and Ride into a transit center. The agency projected the bus rapid transit line to open in 2027.
