Getting around is surprisingly convenient. A free seasonal trolley makes it easy to bounce between downtown, the beaches, and inland neighborhoods without worrying about parking. Commuters and day-trippers can also catch the train right beside the pier for a scenic ride up toward Los Angeles or down to San Diego. Because the coastal bluffs and rail tracks sit close to the water, the city continuously invests in slope stabilization and shoreline protection, so you will occasionally run into trail detours or seawall maintenance along the coast.

For most locals, the active outdoor lifestyle is the main attraction. The San Clemente Beach Trail stretches along the coast, linking North Beach to popular spots like the pier, T-Street, and Calafia. It is the go-to path for morning runs, dog walks, and watching the sunset over the Pacific. Surfing runs deep in the local culture, with world-famous breaks at Trestles and San Onofre State Beach just minutes to the south.
