Sandy Springs is a quiet community along U.S. 76 in Anderson County, sitting right between the city of Anderson and the college town of Clemson. Home to around a thousand people, it offers open space, larger lots, and a relaxed countryside pace. Locals enjoy an easy commute in either direction, whether heading into Anderson for shopping and healthcare or driving over to Clemson for work, dining, and weekend football games. It is a peaceful place to settle down, with the recreation of Lake Hartwell just a short drive away.

The area also holds a proud place in American history as the hometown of Corporal Freddie Stowers. Raised on a local farm, Stowers served in the 371st Infantry during World War I and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his extraordinary bravery in France. He remains the only Black serviceman to receive the nation's highest military honor for World War I service. Today, that history is an enduring point of local pride in a community that offers newcomers affordable Upstate living and plenty of room to breathe.
