About 20 miles north of Albuquerque in Sandoval County, Santa Ana Pueblo, known traditionally as Tamaya, stretches across the open Rio Grande valley near the Jemez River. Located right alongside Bernalillo and the northern metro area, Tamaya is an independent tribal nation with centuries of heritage. The original historic village remains a quiet, sacred center for the community, while the surrounding lands blend long-standing farming traditions with wide-open views of the Sandia Mountains.

Newcomers usually get to know the area through its popular destinations along the river and highway corridors, including the Santa Ana Star Casino, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort, and local golf courses. Beyond the visitor attractions, the Pueblo supports a close-knit community with its own education and wellness programs, while local families also connect with schools in neighboring Bernalillo and the Jemez Valley.
