Santa Monica is a tiny, quiet rural community in southeastern Willacy County, out in the open farmland of the lower Rio Grande Valley. Located east of U.S. 77 along Farm to Market Roads 1018 and 1420, it is home to fewer than 100 residents and about three dozen houses. Life here is peaceful and slow-paced, surrounded by fields and wide Texas skies, offering total seclusion while still keeping you within a reasonable drive of Raymondville and Harlingen.

The area's ranching roots go back to the early 1800s, though the modern town was established in the 1920s and named after its famous California counterpart.
