About Santa Rosa
Santa Rosa is a Cameron County town in the Lower Rio Grande Valley with a history shaped by roads, rail, and school buildings. The town incorporated in 1929; the Southern Pacific Railroad built a depot in 1927, and a new highway to La Feria opened the following year. Santa Rosa had 22 businesses in 1936, then grew through the middle of the twentieth century as the town added churches, a newspaper, and a high school. Today it sits six miles north of La Feria along FM 506 and State Highway 107. Santa Rosa is South Texas in a straight, practical line: fields, highways, a rail stop, and a town that kept adding pieces.
