Santee, CA

Santee is laid out along the San Diego River, with Santee Town Center serving as the lively hub for everyday errands, dining, and shopping. Commuting is straightforward thanks to quick connections to Highways 52, 67, and 125. You also have the Santee Town Center Trolley station right in the middle of it all, giving residents an easy transit connection to San Diego State University, Mission Valley, and downtown San Diego. The area has deep historical roots, starting with Kumeyaay settlements that thrived along the river long before modern development arrived. By the late 1800s, the valley became known for vineyards and citrus groves, eventually taking the name Santee from Milton Santee, the husband of the local postmistress. Spread across 190 acres, the park features seven scenic lakes that draw locals for weekend fishing, pedal boating, walking trails, and picnics. The grounds also include a full campground with waterfront rental cabins, playgrounds, and a splash pad that stays packed during warm summer afternoons. It regularly hosts community events like movie nights and seasonal festivals, giving residents a great lakeside getaway right in their own backyard.
