Saxman, AK

Saxman sits along the coast of Revillagigedo Island, just a couple of miles south of Ketchikan. With around 400 residents, it offers a quiet coastal neighborhood feel tucked between dense rainforest and the water. Living here means enjoying a small, close-knit setting while staying close to everyday essentials, since a quick five-minute drive up the South Tongass Highway brings you right into Ketchikan for groceries, healthcare, schools, and ferry connections.

The town is centered around its strong Tlingit heritage, most visibly seen at Saxman Totem Park, which features historic poles, a traditional clan house, and an active carving shed. Everyday scenery includes fishing boats in the harbor, floatplanes overhead, and lush mountain slopes in every direction. It offers a grounded community atmosphere and immediate access to the outdoors, right on the doorstep of the region's main hub.
