Schuyler, NE

Schuyler is a small agricultural community of about 6,500 people set along the Platte River valley in east-central Nebraska. Founded as a railroad stop in the 1860s, the town still holds onto plenty of local heritage, including the Oak Ballroom, a unique 1930s dance hall built from native timber right by the river. Just north of town, the quiet grounds of the Saint Benedict Center and Christ the King Priory provide a peaceful retreat amid the surrounding farmland.

Everyday amenities include the Schuyler Community Schools, a local hospital, and classes through Central Community College. Cargill is the area's largest employer, driving a hardworking local economy and bringing a multicultural feel to the community. When you need bigger shopping trips or additional medical specialists, Columbus and Fremont are both easy drives along Highway 30. Expect typical Great Plains weather with snowy winters, spring winds, and hot summer storms, balanced by an affordable cost of living and a friendly, unhurried pace.
