Scotland, SD

Scotland is a Bon Homme County city in southeastern South Dakota, where the 2020 census counted 785 residents. Scottish immigrants laid out the town in 1879, and South Dakota Highway 25 now runs north-south through the center. Lake Henry lies just east, a small reservoir formed by a dam across Dawson Creek. Scotland lies in the northern part of Bon Homme County, with farm roads spreading out from the highway.

Scotland's school is the town's strongest shared institution. Scotland School District 4-3 serves local students, and the Highlander mascot carries the town's Scottish name into school buildings and sports. Highway 25 ties the city to the county's farm roads, while Lake Henry adds fishing and camping just east of town for local residents today.
