Scotland, TX

Scotland is a city in eastern Archer County, Texas, south of the Little Wichita River and within the Wichita Falls metropolitan area. The 2020 census counted 413 residents. Its city limits reach east to Lake Arrowhead, the reservoir on the Little Wichita, while roads connect the town with Archer City, Wichita Falls, and the ranch country between them. Water and open land give Scotland a wider map than its population suggests. The lake gives the eastern edge a clear landmark.

The city takes its name from founder Henry J. Scott. Scotland’s schools are divided among Windthorst Independent School District, Archer City Independent School District, and small portions of Henrietta Independent School District, an arrangement that reflects the area’s rural boundaries. Lake Arrowhead adds a major water landmark on the east, and the Little Wichita sets the northern edge. Scotland is a small Archer County city with a founder’s name, a three-district school map, and a reservoir at the end of its eastern reach.
