Screven, GA

Screven is a quiet, close-knit small town in southeast Georgia's Wayne County, home to fewer than 800 residents. Set along U.S. 84, the community grew up around the railroad tracks in the 1850s, originally known simply as Station Seven before taking the name of railroad leader Dr. James Proctor Screven. Today, it offers a peaceful, rural pace of life with plenty of open space and a friendly Southern atmosphere.

Trains remain a central part of Screven's identity, and local history still celebrates the day in 1901 when a record-setting mail train tore through town at 120 miles per hour.
