Seaman, OH

Seaman is an Adams County village in Scott Township, where State Route 247 meets the Appalachian Highway, Ohio 32. The 2020 census counted 973 residents. North Adams Local Schools, the North Adams Public Library, Adams County Regional Medical Center, village services, and small businesses serve the village and surrounding rural farm country. Ohio 32 puts Seaman on the four-lane route toward Cincinnati, while Route 247 carries local trips through the county.

Seaman was laid out in 1888 when the railroad reached the area, and the old Cincinnati and Eastern line still has a modern freight-era successor. Adams County Regional Medical Center opened a new hospital in 2007, giving the county a healthcare address in the village. School sports, library programs, hospital work, and the highway traffic all meet in the same small crossroads. The surrounding hills and farms keep Seaman connected to southern Ohio's rural landscape, but the medical center and school campus give it responsibilities beyond a residential settlement.
