About Seeley

Seeley is an Imperial County census-designated place five miles west of El Centro, set in the Imperial Valley near the New River and the basin once known as Blue Lake. Its first post office opened in 1909, and the community was named for Henry Seeley, an early developer of Imperial County. Nearby Yuha Well carries an older route story: Juan Bautista de Anza's expedition used it on March 8, 1774, and his colonizing expedition stopped there in 1775. Seeley is a California place where a post office and an old desert watering stop share the map.
