Sitting across Kachemak Bay from Homer, Seldovia offers a quiet coastal lifestyle completely off the road grid. With a year-round population of around 250 people, getting into town means catching a short flight, hopping on a water taxi, or taking the state ferry. Daily life naturally revolves around the tides, the boat harbor, and the small airstrip, backed by deep roots in Alaska Native heritage and commercial fishing.

Much of the town's character sits along the water and the historic boardwalk on Seldovia Slough, where buildings still rest on wooden pilings over the tide. The community is compact and self-reliant, with the Susan B. English School serving local kids from kindergarten through high school in a single building. The Seldovia Village Tribe provides essential health and community services, and while summer brings a busy rush of boaters and seasonal workers, winters settle into a peaceful rhythm where everyone knows their neighbors.
