About Seneca
Seneca is a city in Oconee County, South Carolina, named after the historic Cherokee town of Isunigu and the nearby Seneca River. Founded in 1873 as a railroad town, the community of approximately 8,993 was once home to the Seneca Institute, a junior college established in 1899 as an historically black institution. Public education is served by the School District of Oconee County.
