Seth Ward is a small, quiet community sitting just northeast of Plainview in Hale County. Surrounded by open farmland and wide West Texas skies, it offers a relaxed country feel right along the edge of town. The area traces its name back to Seth Ward College, a Methodist school built in 1910. While fires destroyed the campus shortly after opening, the name stayed behind and gave the neighborhood its identity.
