Seven Valleys, PA

Seven Valleys is a York County borough in the York–Hanover metropolitan area, with 480 residents in the 2020 census. The borough sits in the Codorus basin, where the South Branch Codorus Creek, old rail lines, and roads toward Spring Grove and Glen Rock shape the local map. Spring Grove Area School District serves students from New Salem Elementary through the middle, intermediate, and high schools. The former Seven Valleys Elementary building on the hill now houses Liberty Christian Fellowship Church.

Forty German Lutheran and Reformed families from the Hunsrück Mountains of the Rhineland Palatinate arrived in the valley in 1738 and called the place Das Siebenthal, or Seven Valleys. Churches and parochial schools kept the Pfalzer dialect in use for generations. The railroad arrived in 1838, helping the borough become a cattle-shipping point for Baltimore. Today, the York County Heritage Rail Trail reaches Seven Valleys, and Codorus State Park preserves nearby creek, mill, and iron-country history.
