Seymour, MO

Seymour is a southeastern Webster County city in the Ozarks, laid out in 1882 and incorporated in 1895. Its local nickname, “Land of the Big Red Apple,” comes from the apple industry that made the area a leading producer around the turn of the twentieth century. Col. Thomas C. Love’s farm north of town once held one of the state’s largest apple orchards, and the house is now on the National Register. The annual Apple Festival keeps that agricultural chapter on the calendar, with the public square serving as the town’s main stage. Seymour’s other landmark thread is the old U.S. 60 route through town.
