Seymour, WI (CDP)

Seymour is the Eau Claire County census-designated place tucked inside the Town of Seymour, just east of Eau Claire and near the Altoona side of the Chippewa Valley. The 2020 census counted 1,501 residents. The CDP includes a surprising amount of water for a place this size, with about one-fifth of its area covered by water. The surrounding town grew out of 19th-century Eau Claire County town formation, and the Seymour name has been around since the 1870s. Most of the local feeling comes from the edges: rural roads, lake homes, farms, and the Altoona Lake District sharing a township map.

Eau Claire is close for work and errands, while Altoona brings Lake Altoona, trails, and park days into the broader orbit. The Town of Seymour also sits between Eau Claire, Chippewa Falls, and Fall Creek, so the address carries both country and metro habits. Seymour's local scoop is a Wisconsin CDP where a lake-heavy footprint, old township name, and Eau Claire's outer edge all overlap.
