Sharon Center, OH

Sharon Center is a Medina County census-designated place at the geographic center of Sharon Township, where Ohio Routes 94 and 162 meet. The 2020 census counted 918 residents. Settlement began in 1816, a post office opened as Sharon Centre in 1833, and the name changed to Sharon Center in 1893. The crossroads sits between Wadsworth, Medina, and Akron, with Wolf Creek draining east toward the Tuscarawas River. The central traffic circle has a park, gazebo, and memorials to veterans. Sharon Township's history includes a Methodist church still in use, a former Universalist church that became Town Hall, and a first store from 1834. The township's offices and records keep Sharon Center tied to the wider rural area. It is a compact northeastern Ohio crossroads where old churches, a post office history, Route 94, and Route 162 meet around one central park.
