About Shasta Lake

Shasta Lake is a city in Shasta County, California, located adjacent to the Shasta Lake reservoir and Shasta Dam. Known as Central Valley prior to its incorporation in 1993, the city of approximately 10,300 originated as five distinct construction settlements built to house workers when dam construction began in 1938. Today, the community serves as a popular tourist gateway for boating, fishing, and outdoor recreation in northern California.
