About Sheffield

Sheffield is a city in Colbert County, Alabama, situated on the south bank of the Tennessee River within the Florence-Muscle Shoals metropolitan area. The city is home to the historic Helen Keller Hospital, founded in 1921, and the oldest bridge site in the state. Sheffield gained fame as the home of Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, where legendary artists recorded. The city's industrial base was historically expanded by the Reynolds Metals Company in 1940.
