Shelbyville is a city and the county seat of Shelby County, Illinois, situated along the Kaskaskia River. Founded in 1827 and named for Revolutionary War hero Isaac Shelby, the historic community features Chautauqua Auditorium and has its public K-12 education administered by Shelbyville Community Unit School District 4 locally today.
