Sheridan, MI

Sheridan is a Montcalm County village where four townships meet: Evergreen, Bushnell, Fairplain, and Sidney. Louis Lovell was the first settler in 1851, and John W. Winsor soon built a sawmill and the first business. Lumber shaped the early town, with later manufacturing including furniture and spark plugs. That mix of crossroads, timber, and small industry still shows why Sheridan feels connected to several surrounding communities at once.

The village's water tower carries a bit of local theater: the old tower was demolished, then its replacement was painted with an image that keeps the landmark in the town's visual memory. Pearl Lake is nearby, while M-66 runs south toward Stanton, the county seat, and Greenville lies about eleven miles to the southwest. Churches, local businesses, township roads, and the historic center give Sheridan its everyday structure. It is a village built at a four-way county intersection, with lake water, lumber history, and a painted tower making the local map memorable.
