Sherwood is a city in Renville County, North Dakota, United States. The 2020 census counted 194 residents. Sherwood is part of the Minot Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sherwood was founded in 1904 and named after Sherwood H. In order to minimize controversy, the three school districts' old nicknames were retired, and voters in the newly consolidated district chose the Mavericks as the new nickname. That mix gives Sherwood a clear local shape within North Dakota, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. Sleeper, a Mohall banker who had owned land in the area. The town site of Sherwood was homesteaded by Bert C. Loomis deeded the land to Sherwood H.
