About Shingle Springs

Shingle Springs is a historic census-designated place in the Gold Country foothills of El Dorado County, California, situated along Highway 50. Developing from a gold mining camp established in 1849 along the Carson-Emigrant Trail, the community of approximately 3,800 took its name from a pioneer horse-drawn shingle-making machine.
