About Shipshewana
Shipshewana is a LaGrange County town in northern Indiana Amish country, with the Menno-Hof Amish and Mennonite Museum giving the place a clear center of gravity. The town took its name from a local Potawatomi figure, and its post office dates to 1889. Around that older town grid, the museum lays out the history of Amish and Mennonite communities through meetinghouse, home, print-shop, and migration exhibits. Shipshewana is Indiana in a very particular mix of faith, craft, and roads.
