Bamboo Bay and Tropics keep swimming on Shoreview’s calendar even when the city’s lakes are frozen. Both indoor waterparks operate at the Shoreview Community Center, which also contains a tropical-themed playground, fitness center, indoor track, basketball and volleyball courts, whirlpool, and drop-in pickleball. Daily passes and memberships make the complex a regional destination as well as a resident facility. Immediately outside, Shoreview Commons hosts a destination playground, farmers market, children’s performances, and free summer concerts; the 2026 concert series drew audiences to the pavilion behind the community center. This concentration of indoor and outdoor facilities gives the Victoria Street campus a civic role in every season. The larger recreation system spreads through 16 parks and more than 1,400 acres of park and open space, about 18 percent of Shoreview’s land. City and county sites provide access to Island, Owasso, Snail, and Turtle lakes, while seven outdoor rinks add supervised winter skating.

Shoreview maintains nearly 90 miles of sidewalks and trails linking neighborhoods with parks, shopping, schools, and the community center; most routes are cleared year-round, and county parks groom selected trails for cross-country skiing. The city’s 2026 Tour de Trails offered nine- and 24-mile bicycle routes through that network. Metro Transit Route 62 begins at the community-center park-and-ride and runs toward downtown Saint Paul. The city’s population changed little, from 26,921 in 2020 to a 2025 estimate of 26,906. For 2020–2024, 80.2 percent of occupied homes were owner-occupied, 22.2 percent of residents were under 18, and 21.5 percent were age 65 or older. The nearly even shares of children and older adults help give context to a recreation schedule that ranges from summer day programs and playgrounds to fitness classes, walking tracks, and lake trails.
