Shoshone, ID

If you are planning a move here, the first thing to know is the pronunciation: locals say "Show-shown," leaving the final "e" silent. Home to around 1,600 residents, the town grew up around the railroad in the 1880s, which gave it an exceptionally wide main street and an open, uncrowded feel.
