Siasconset, MA

Siasconset, usually shortened to 'Sconset, occupies the eastern end of Nantucket, where a seventeenth-century fishing village still organizes the local street pattern. Auld Lang Syne, one of the old fishing shacks, may include a core dating to the 1670s, and other cottages carry eighteenth- and nineteenth-century fabric. The place is unincorporated and has its own post office, with the Atlantic shore and Sankaty Head at the island's eastern edge. Three of Nantucket's four golf courses are in Siasconset.

Current orientation comes through the Sconset Bluff Walk, a public footpath behind private properties along Nantucket's east shore. The town describes it as a narrow, uneven dirt trail with no dedicated parking, so the path is part of the village's physical relationship with the bluff as well as a destination. Larsen Park provides a local park, and Sankaty Head Lighthouse gives the village a fixed point at the end of the island. Old cottages, golf courses, the post office, and shore paths make Siasconset distinct from Nantucket's main settlement while keeping it tied to the island's shared services.
